WA House is a house for a couple, two children and a crowd of guests – a dynamic, extroverted form fully meets their characters. Owners knew what they wanted from the start: a sports car in the living room, a winter garden and a wardrobe for a collection of baseball caps. Clients’ wishes required a carefully written script, balance of quiet and loud spaces. Private and public areas of the house are classically divided by floors: there are studio, kitchen, bedroom for visitors and cinema on the first one, and blocks of bedrooms with bathrooms and wardrobes above them. A special role is played by the winter garden on the ground floor, which is located at the intersection of buildings and serves as a point where the environment penetrates the interior, and the interior is connected with the environment.

Exterior

The cottage complex, where WA House is placed, consists of four typical houses projects of different sizes, but necessarily sustained in one style: colors and materials are the tools that allow houses to fit into the environment, to become an organic part of it. WA House is no exception: like all neighboring houses, it is lined with light porcelain and dark rabbet metal. But the decision of the facades is dictated not only by the environment, the use of two contrasting materials is minimal, concise means to show the complex shape of the house, which is a priority when it comes to a clean natural landscape.

The house has an unusual layout, three wings converge at one point, forming shaded pockets at ground level and spacious terraces on the second floor. The complex shape of the floor was solved by monolithic pouring.

Construction

A two-level window was arranged for the studio, which encourages contemplation like a movie screen and creates a feeling of presence in two environments at once. The cantilever stairs almost float in the air, they have a channel covered with painted metal on one side and a glass fence on the other, the steps thicken closer to the mount. The ground floor is also integrated into the environment with sliding glazing, so the main facade becomes almost weightless.

An important element of the composition are the gables, which mark the exits to the terraces, they set the vertical rhythm of the house and unites the horizontal volumes into a single whole.
